Frequently Asked Questions
General
Where are Kingsberry House products made?
Kingsberry House products are handcrafted in Melbourne, Australia. Please be aware that any of our products which require a melting process in manufacturing are only melted down in stainless steel, no teflon or aluminium is used at any stage of manufacturing.
Is there a benefit to using products with certified organic ingredients?
Most definitely, skincare products which contain only certified organic ingredients guarantee purity by excluding synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, growth hormones, and genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and they offer full traceability back to their source. One must remember that your skin is the largest organ of the body and everything that you put on your skin absorbs directly into your bloodstream. For this reason, it is paramount that whatever you put on your skin must be of the highest natural quality. Certified organic carrier oils and essential oils (such as those certified by ACO, USDA, or COSMOS) generally do not contain sulphates, parabens, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours, T.E.A., D.E.A., glycols, silicones, PEGs, ethoxylates, formaldehyde or its derivatives, PFAS/PFOA/PFOS/PFHxS, or pentachlorobenzene
(PeCB).
Certified organic essential oils are regulated to be 100% pure, natural, and extracted without the use of chemical solvents. Certified organic carrier oils are generally 100% pure, cold-pressed or expeller-pressed, and derived from plant seeds, nuts, or kernels without the use of chemical solvents or synthetic additives. Certification standards specifically reject synthetic additives, artificial preservatives (like parabens), and fillers. Organic standards prohibit the use of petrochemical solvents during extraction, relying instead on steam distillation or cold pressing. Certified oils are 100% plant extract and are not enhanced with synthetic scents or colours. Organic farming restricts pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, the plants are grown in cleaner conditions, reducing the risk of environmental pollutants like synthetic chemicals. Ethoxylates, PEGs, and Silicones are synthetic processing aids or additives explicitly forbidden in certified organic products.
What is the difference between certified organic and organic ingredients?
Certified organic ingredients differ from ingredients only stated as ‘organic’ in that
they are independently verified to meet rigorous standards covering pesticide use, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and additives, with annual audits ensuring compliance. Certification such as through Australian Certified Organic
(ACO) requires third‑party validation across the entire production chain, from farming to processing, and adherence to national regulations like the National Standard for Organic and Bio‑dynamic Produce. In contrast, the term “organic” alone is largely unregulated and can be used on any product regardless of actual practices, allowing for misleading claims. Certified organic ingredients also guarantee purity by excluding synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, growth hormones, and GMOs, and they offer full traceability back to their source.
Why do none of the products have a certified organic accreditation or label?
Most of the ingredients we use in our products have already been authorised as certified organic by government approved third party certification companies such as Australian Certified Organic (ACO). For this reason we do not believe it is necessary to have our products certified as the raw ingredients have already undergone analysis to ensure that they comply with strict national and international standards.
Is it true that preservatives are required in all skincare products?
Cream and gel-based formulas are susceptible to spoilage, preservatives are a safety essential. We include them specifically in our products containing Aloe Vera to prevent mold growth and ensure a long-lasting shelf life.
Do the products have an expiration date?
Yes, under each jar/bottle you will see a sticker that states the batch number on top followed by the use by date below. We recommend completely using the hair wax and pomade within 3 months and all other products within 6 months of receiving them.
Products
Are your products tested on animals?
No, all our products are cruelty-free which means that they have not been tested on animals and they never will be.
Do any of your products contain animal components or by-products?
Yes, only our Hair Wax and Hair Pomade contain certified organic beeswax. The remainder of our products are free of any animal components and/or by-products classifying them as Vegan.
Is it required to refrigerate Kingsberry House products?
We advise that all our products are kept in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Our products are shelf-stable in most environments, however, you may choose to refrigerate them during periods of extreme heat or high humidity to maintain their optimal consistency.
Do Kingsberry House products contain nuts?
While our products are formulated without using common nuts like peanuts, almonds, walnuts, cashews, or Brazil nuts, they do contain Coconut and Shea Butter. Although these are botanically classified as tree nuts, they are generally considered low-risk for most people with allergies. It's strongly recommended that individuals with severe sensitivities consult a medical professional or perform a patch test before full use.
Do I need to patch test Kingsberry House products?
Yes, while sensitivity reactions are rare, we highly suggest performing a simple patch test before introducing a new product to your routine. For those with a history of skin sensitivities it may be best to consult with a skin specialist first.
Packaging
Is Kingsberry House’s packaging environmentally friendly?
All our products are packaged in glass which is generally considered to be the healthiest and safest material for packaging cosmetics. It is inert, non-porous, and non-toxic, meaning it won't leach harmful chemicals into products or react with active ingredients like plastic can. Glass preserves formula integrity, provides an airtight seal, and is 100% recyclable, making it an excellent choice for sustainability and product purity. All lids are to be placed in the general waste bin rather than the recycle. Our mailing packaging boxes and the peanut puffs contained inside are also recyclable.
